Scripture Memory Team Verse Two!

Hi Girls!  It's the 15th of the month and you know what that means... it's our new memory verse day!

I thought for sure that my scripture for these next two weeks would be 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, the taking of every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, however God had another that just lept off the page and that's the one that I'm going with!

I must say though, that scripture memorization is a huge part of taking the mind captive to Christ, time and time again this has been proven to be true in my own life and it is why hiding God's Word in my heart is so vital to my walking this thing out victoriously.  There is such a vast difference between scripture memorization being used as an intellectual pursuit only and that of being hidden in the heart.  I'll be posting more about that later!

By the way, I've been getting a few queries recently as to whether anyone can join the Scripture Memory Team, or even just drop in and stay here awhile... the answer is absolutely!  The Gathering Place is for 'whosoever will' and there is no such thing as coming in too late either... just jump right in and receive some encouragement and the blessing of walking this magnificent road with your sisters in Christ.

Now, I've got a ton of birthday preparations to be getting to today, Scott's grandfather is turning 95 this weekend and our youngest son is also adding another year to his age and making his mama feel just a tad bit older herself!  Golly, some days it seems as if I'm watching one of those movie dreams where the character is seeing the calendar pages blow off into the wind as the years just fly by!

Anyway, here is my scripture memory verse for the next two weeks, and remember, you don't have to just limit your verses to your spiral, I've written mine and have it on my bathroom counter as well as tucked into my spiral in my purse, however you choose to do it, just get that Word before you!

There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 12:18

Love you lots!

  1. I'm excited to leave my next verse as I have so much to praise Him for. Not enough time or space to tell the whole story here but I wanted to at least briefly say that thru all the medical testing and procedures I have been thru over the summer I have had God's peace and my mind has been protected from fear or worry. Isn't that fantastic!

I had the verse from Judges 5:21b (my soul march on with strength) and other scripture which reminded me to entrust myself to the Shepherd and Guardian of my soul whatever the outcome - this helped me tremendously to give it all over to Jesus as the days went by.

Were there times and moments of not looking to Him or of not walking with Him in strength - regretfully, yes, but He was still with me, teaching me and bringing me back to Himself.

I have now received a clean bill of health and am able to go back to work, excercise, driving, vacuuming etc. - you get the idea. I was going to say resume my former life but hopefully it's more than that - go on to a new way of life with all that I have learned.

Anyway - my verse of praise and thanksgiving is:
Isaiah 61:10 NASB "I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with a robe of righteousnes, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."

One last request is that these verses I am memorizing are more than just that - I want them to change me, prepare me, teach me and whatever else He wants them to do in me.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support during this time - it meant so much to me.

  2. Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
    Colossians 3:23-24
Sometimes (let's be honest, it's a lot of the time) I need to be reminded whom I am serving. My work is my family and my home, serving my husband and son. I need to remember, when I don't feel like serving my husband, or the baby's fussy and I'm getting irritated, that I'm really serving the Lord. And doesn't He deserve my best effort?

  3. Wonderful news Sally!

This is the verse that God placed in my heart last week...Isaiah 26:3
"The steadfast of mind Thou will keep in perfect peace, Because he trust in Thee." The more I meditate on it the more precious it becomes. I believe God gives us the perfect verse for the time and place that we are in.

    Perfect Peace...Shalom Shalom

    Love...Always,
    Angie

  4. Praise and thanksgiving... re-dedication... steadfastness of mind... it's no wonder why you are all so precious to me!

By the way, our sisters, Angie, Edna and Jan are probably already winging their way over to Israel, so Shalom to you too Angie and all that travel with you!

And blessings on you too, Scripture Memory Team Girls, as you tuck God's Word deeply into your heart and mind! The sun had not even set on the day that I wrote this post and shared my own verse before the reality of the power of God's leading of the need of this Word was made known to me in a powerful way... needless to say I was prepared and astounded at the goodness and provision of God.

    love you!
    Cathie
