Perhaps like many of you, I have been taking time to get a fresh perspective on my life and how I live it out. Other than God, Who changes not, all things are destined for change, in one way or another. Just the basic aging process is evidence of that change! Other than taking the best care of these temples as we can, some changes are best not being fought against... they just are what they are. Yet there are changes that we can make, under the guidance of God, that will benefit us spiritually and prepare us for the next phase of whatever season we may be in.
Over the past few months, in my study and reflective time, I have been writing out in my journal some of the changes that I can implement today and in the days to come. Much of what I have written is more of an awareness that is to be better cultivated within myself in order to produce a more abundant harvest of fruit. I'm only sharing these with you here because I believe that as women we need to be pouring into one another those things that will build up and edify one another. I won't give you them all... you'd need a three ring binder! But here are just a few...
~ Honour the balance of work and rest
~ Being clear, regarding personal boundaries and limitations, shows maturity and defines the lines of respect
~ Have a heart of kindness towards all yet understand that not all will be kindly in return
~ Nurture those places within that God has proclaimed good and extend them to yourself...
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control
~ Be kind to yourself,
live without self-condemnation and dishonour, extend understanding and gentleness to yourself free from driving yourself hard without thought or care
live without self-condemnation and dishonour, extend understanding and gentleness to yourself free from driving yourself hard without thought or care
~ Becoming entangled or wrapped up in the lives and affairs of others can muddy the clarity of mind needed to see and be mindful of personal responsibility regarding, spiritual, physical and emotional well-being in Christ
~ Bless others, but do not seek to be a pleaser of men
~ Know God and know yourself as His child...
distinct from anyone or anything else
~ Desire to age well physically and spiritually,
understanding all the while that God uses both for His purposes
By the way, don't forget to take your memory verses that you have chosen and turn them every which way you can until you have seen them from every possible vantage point.
Study the surrounding verses and view them in context so that you are correct not only in your interpretation, but ultimately in your application!
OK, so here is the verse that I will be committing to memory and that will be ushering me into the New Year!
"You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north..."
Deuteronomy 2:3Now, away I go into The Day! Due North! And I'm not talkin' about the "Pole"!
Hold your head up girls and walk strong in your Lord!
with love,

"For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken," Says the LORD who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

Sally
Hi Cathie, Thankyou for your words of wisdom, I will take them to heart.
ReplyDeleteMy verse is:
Set your mind on things things that are above, not on things that are on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God
Colossians 3:2&3
ESV
Well it's almost over, but here's mine.
ReplyDeleteTherefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him.
Isaiah 30:18
