Sister Prayers

Linda and her husband Bob left on Wednesday evening for Vietnam...

We start in Saigon and end in Hanoi. We are traveling with Wally and Glenna from our church. Our first encounter will be with Katie from our church who left for a two month back packing adventure just yesterday. She will meet us at the airport and we will have a couple of days with her in Saigon before we part company. We will also join Chuck and Joette from VWAM as we carry on. I'm traveling light not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. I am at peace and it is well with my soul...If I cross your mind in the next three weeks send up a prayer. I will feel it.
Blessings.

Bob and Linda will be attending a 4 day pastors and wives conference.  100 participants are expected to attend and Linda will be speaking to the Vietnamese wives covering the topics of "The Call to Follow Jesus" and "The Pastor's Wife (A Good Thing)".

While in Danang they will be helping Pastor Ha and his wife Chin dedicate the new church there.

Let's join together in prayer for Bob and Linda!
July 1st Update...
We are safe and sound in Saigon. 18 hours did the trick. Good flights. All is well. So many changes. I hadn't even seen the new airport. Sipping an iced coffee and will head up to my room. We met Katie at the airport and she taxied in to town with us. We will freshen up and then escort her to backpackers alley. Not very hot. Nice intro for us to get adjusted. Good times.  Will stay in touch. Would love to hear from you too
Love Linda

July 2nd Update...
Day Two Saigon. Hi everyone. Nothing is as easy when you aren't on your home computer! I uploaded some pics from my camera to use in this blog and now can't find them on the drive. Oh well...Words without pictures. Not as much fun. And now that I've wasted so much time trying to do this, I've pretty well lost interest.
I will just touch base and say that all is well. I am laying low at the hotel today. I was up at 4:30a.m. and have enjoyed studying, breakfasting and visiting. I will continue in that vein but will change the verb to lunching and dinnering when the time comes.
Yesterday we met up with Katie when we arrived and enjoyed our first day in Saigon. I went out on my own to have a foot massage to make sure I keep the blood flowing. Their idea of a foot massage includes legs, head and shoulders. It was wonderful. One full hour of delightful relaxation for $14. The price has gone up!
I keep hearing my Cathie's voice to drink lots of water so I am heeding the call.
We travel tomorrow to our ministry location, the reason for our being here. That is why I am resting now. Lots of time to be a tourist afterwards. It's lovely to be here. There have been many changes and it is definitely a new Vietnam. Good changes. Good people.
Bye for now...Linda

July 5th Update...
From NaTrang... must tell you all something funny... I hold the record so far for getting a standing ovation during my sermon. From the men! Good grief. I'm rather afraid to think what Chinh actually said during the translation.....It had something to do with the marriage bed and their loving wives. It was uproarious. Help me, Jesus! I was only upholding the Word of God from 1 Cor 7. Did I ever get handshakes from the men too when it was over.
I am trying to get back at them now by making the women happy with words of how the men should help them in the kitchen. Even Jesus cooked breakfast for Peter and the boys in John 21. He fried fish dontcha know?
We are having a great time.
More later,
Linda.

  3. Hi girls. Thanks for your prayers and comments. I am back home safe and sound. As life sometimes has it, my husband's mother became ill on the fifth day of our tour. We weren't able to get a flight back out of Vietnam so we stayed the course. I am now on my way to California to join Bob. Carmen died yesterday but not before Bob got to say his goodbyes. God had the timing worked out impeccably.
The pastors conference was a beautiful success. I wasn't able to blog about it while in Vietnam. Even facebook is illegal there. I hope to be able to show some pictures and tell stories discreetly enough now that no one there would be identified and interrogated.
I'll be sure to share my blog when I write.
Thanks again for being such good sisters to me.
    Linda
